WHAT IS MENTORING?
Learning, growth and spiritual development occurs in relationship. C.S. Lewis describes it well, ‘Think of me as a fellow patient in the same hospital who, having been admitted a little earlier, could give some advice.' Mentoring at PBC is an informal ministry that practices a simple principle: ‘Those who walk with the wise grow wise' (Proverbs 13:20). The goal is encouragement. Mentoring is not about a carefully outlined curriculum. It's about life-on-life relationships. Being mentored or being a mentor is one of the most important investments of time we can make.
WHAT'S THE TIME COMMITMENT?
This can be decided by you, but an hour, once or twice a month for one year is a good aim.
HOW DO I FIND A MENTOR?
Prayerfully think of people of your gender who you admire and would like to spend more time with. Approach them personally or contact Pastor Dave Baxter to talk it through. If there is no one you think you can approach, please speak to Jennifer on 01892 825590 or office@pemburybaptistchurch.org. Please let Dave or an Elder know that mentoring is taking place.
