No Pasta for a Pastor - Wednesday 27th April

  • Apr 22, 2011

Coming up next Wednesday is the third of PBC's monthly 'No Pasta for a Pastor' days, a day put aside for prayer and fasting for PBC's new Pastor search.  This is a time when the Eldership hope you will join them, wherever you are, in praying for wisdom, discernment and for God's will to be done at this time, particularly as Dave Baxter comes to preach 'with a view' on Sunday 15th May.

Please also pray for David Chaput and the family as his test results are not good, for healing and love but also that someone will step forward to take up his work in PRIME.  Here is an excerpt from a recent email with more detail:

'A recent blood test showed that my cancer has relapsed on second-line treatment. This means I shall be starting on chemotherapy in a clinical trial in the next month or so. This will take three months to complete unless I'm forced to withdraw because of unwanted effects which are frequent and troublesome with this particular drug. My life expectancy can be calculated as about eight months from now, though there is one further drug treatment which may be helpful. All this is, of course, without any direct divine intervention in the course of my disease.
Thank you for continuing to pray that God may halt the progress of my cancer and even bring me complete healing. I need to confess that my faith is rather low on this one - one of the unwanted effects of being medically qualified I guess. Please pray for Gail, Luke, Daniel and Edward that they will be able to rest in the security of God's power and love both for me and for themselves.
From a professional point of view, please pray that a leader will appear to take over my responsibilities in PRIME. We particularly need somebody to lead out on the development of the curriculum for spiritual care for Russian doctors.'

Easter Sunday - Baptisms and The Miracle Maker

2nd April, 2012

Easter week at PBC has some thought provoking and interesting opportunities for worship and glorifying our living God. There's Good Friday service at 10am, followed by the Walk of Witness at 11am to the Village Green for the HOPE Pembury Churches Together annual service on the green. Hot cross buns and refreshments will be served at the Hanes' home after the service finishes. And on Easter Sunday, there's three baptisms taking place in the morning at 10am followed by a family opportunity at 5pm to enjoy a cinematic experience with popcorn, icecream and fizzy pop whilst watching The Miracle Maker.
