Testimonies - Winchelsea Youth Weekend 20-22 March

  • Mar 26, 2009

We have received some truly awesome and inspiring written testimonies from our young people who went on the Youth Weekend Away to Winchelsea last weekend. God worked powerfully through the teaching and Small Groups. Read more about the weekend and some testimonies by clicking on the title above.

Of the 30 young people who went away, around half of them were from non-church families, but everyone came home with a fresh sense of God and his amazing love for them as their Heavenly Father.

Below are some accounts of God's work during the weekend:

"My testimony of the weekend was when us girls and Emily (Tyler) were moved by the Holy Spirit when we prayed for each other. It helped to bring us closer to one another and God. Emily was speaking in tongues and Alice, Bianca and me cried. Then Emily (Melville) sang over us, which was really beautiful. We did a lot of praying together in quiet time and at night!"  Helen Williams

"So many amazing things have happened to me today! I feel like I just need to let it all out!  This morning I woke up and I felt like a completely different person. I read some of my Bible, which I hardly ever do, and I really felt God speaking to me through it. I prayed to God before I went off to school and asked him to use me in whatever way he wanted. At school though, I felt completely scared. I had told my friends in advance that I was going on a youth weekend, so they were asking me how it was. I told them all the funny parts, what we did, but I had no confidence to tell them about the sessions, or anything about God. But suddenly, I really felt like God was there, holding my hand, telling me it was ok. So I told my friends about when Jim asked who wanted to devote themselves more to God, and I told them that I stood up. They didn't say anything more, but they didn't mock or tease me, and even though it looks like nothing has affected them yet, I feel like God is proud of me for doing that, and I feel he wants me to keep preaching about him to my friends. I feel like a brand new girl, and so I just want to say thank you again because my life really has changed completely, and I am so much happier and better."  Helena Burgess

"We prayed for my friend and that he would come to God over the weekend and on the Tuesday after the weekend away he confided in me and told me that he had come to God and he had stopped swearing and completely changed!"

"I dont really have much of a testimony, just went on the weekend doubting a bit and stepping back but had an amazing time and really felt Gods presence all weekend. I just felt our group prayer on Sunday was absolutely amazing! and we all experienced God's presence and Emily (Melville) sang over us beautifully"  Alice Campbell
