Hope 2008
What's Hope 2008?
The three churches in Pembury, as part of the national organisation Hope 2008, are working together that year to bring Hope into our community. This isn't because we want something from you, but because we care about you and the community we live in.
Among the main events planned for 2008 are the following:
26th January: Money Management Seminar:
At 14.00 at PBC there is a teaching session by Tony Denyer of Tunbridge Wells URC Debt Advice Centre on Money Management, just in time for the December credit card bills!
27th April: Community litter picking
A community cleanup event, starts 2pm at St Anselm's, volunteers welcome, equipment will be provided.
NEWS IN: A successful event had by all! Dozens of bags filled with junk and a positive step towards the next big events - The Village Fun Day and the Noise. You can see the photos here
12th July: Family Fun-day
Starting at 1pm, on the Rec. There will be stalls, games and fun for all the family, and also live bands.
13-14th September: The Noise
Weekend of community action, commences Saturday 10 am at Pembury Baptist Church, activities include car washing, gardening for the elderly, cleaning and tidying community spaces, visiting the elderly and infirm....volunteers welcome!
Weekly prayer
Throughout 2008 there will be weekly Prayer for every Street: watch out for leaflets when your street is due. In January we are praying for Amberleaze Drive, Batchelors, Beagles Wood Road and Beech Hurst.
We are planning further joint events such as a men's and women's interchurch breakfasts, a sponsored "slum survivor" youth sleepout, an interchurch quiz night and joint services for the three churches. Dates for such events to be announced later. Wayne's talk on church unity preached on February 24th, 2008 at St Peters can be found here.
