Church Diary and Calendar Front Page - Front Page diary and calendar

Members of PBC contribute to the life and work of the church in many different ways. Christians believe that everything we have comes from God. We want to do what he wants with all areas of our lives, including our money, time, relationships, sex, etc. Our money and how we use it is inextricably linked to who we are

We want to grow up to be content with what we have in a culture that encourages us always to want more. We want to learn to have giving at the centre of who we are, including giving money. The Church has historically taught that it's good to give away 10% of income on the basis of the Old Testament concept of a 'tithe', but we live under grace not law - we think Christians should give generously, extravagantly, and in response to what the Holy Spirit is saying.

It's normal to give to the church that you're part of, to the needs of the poor, and maybe to other Christian organisations. We've found that for most people the easiest way of making sure they do give is to set up regular standing orders, and then to give on top of that from time to time.

Whilst the information below relates to financial giving, other pages on this site explain the variety of ways you can get involved and contribute to PBC's many ministries. Over 10% of PBC's annual budget is given away to particular Mission organisations around the world (see our Missions page) but we believe all of PBC's budget is invested in the growth of God's Kingdom.

How can I give to the work of PBC?

There are two ways to do this:
  1. By setting up a standing order with your bank - giving forms are available from the church. If you would like details on how to set this up, please contact the Treasurer, David Hanes, on
  2. Through your employers payroll giving scheme (this only applies if your employer runs such a scheme - your Human Resources department can provide details on this)
Other ways to give:
  1. A regular collection is taken at all Sunday services. If you would like to send us a cheque, please make it payable to Pembury Baptist Church and send it to the Finance Team at Pembury Baptist Church (Finance Team, Pembury Baptist Church, Romford Road, Pembury, Kent, TN2 4HT)
  2. You may also like to consider making a donation to PBC in your will. Please ask your solicitor when you make or change your will, or ask us for more information.
Tax Efficient Giving:

If you pay UK tax (Income or Capital Gains Tax) and would like us to be able to claim back the basic rate tax, you will need to fill in, sign and return to us an ongoing Gift Aid declaration if you have not done so already. The benefit to PBC is that it can recover the basic rate of income tax, currently 28p for each pound given. (If you pay higher rate tax, you may recover this through your own tax return.)

If you have any questions on these or other ways of giving, please contact the Finance Team; Di Harris on 01892 822793 or David Hanes 01892 823174

Why give to Pembury Baptist Church? Four reasons to inspire you:

1 There is so much potential in God's church that can be released when we all determine to give sacrificially to God with tithes, offerings and donations to specific projects.

2 PBC is committed to be a blessing to our world; to orphans, aids victims, street children, widows, the persecuted, and those overseas who do not yet know Jesus. We want to give of ourselves in ways that help them to come to know Him and follow Him.

3 There is life-changing potential locally in Outreach, Children's Ministry, Youth Ministry, Site development and improvements, Mission, Community Projects impacting Pembury, Staff Team. The list goes on...

4 This potential can be realised when resources are present. The potential remains just a dream if the resources are absent.

Pastor Dave Baxter's New Year Message

10th January, 2012

Pastor Dave Baxter welcomed in the new year in the PBC News with a story of Hans Nielsen Hauge. That touch of God's hand and answer to prayer was the start of Hauge's God-driven mission to the whole of the Norwegian people. It was a time when Norwegians were emigrating to America and consequently, Hauge's teaching on repentance and salvation went over to the US with the Lutherans. What will God do in our lives this year? What are we praying for? Click on the header for the story and our Pastor's welcome in full. Happy New Year!
