What is PromiseLand?

Promiseland is our a new brand of children's ministry which meets in Pembury Baptist Church Hall and has been running since October 2008. It aims to be "the best hour of every kid's week", and we have over 40 volunteers who serve each month to reach this aim. Promiseland has been an amazing way for us to raise the risk level, rethink leading children to full to devotion to Christ, and release unprecendented levels of compasssion as we seek to support families in Pembury. It runs for children in reception to year 6, and involves 13-18s as assistant leaders. We also have a group called 'Deeper' for year 7's and 8's alongside Promiseland.

We currently have all the volunteers that are needed for Promiseland, but as volunteers move on from serving at Promiseland, so volunteer needs quickly fill up, so please pray about how you may be involved in this exciting vision. To read Fi's story about why she is involved, click here.

This is what happens on an average morning:

9.45 Activity stations:

Children begin to be dropped off by parents and immediately particpate in Activity stations. This features table games, crafts, football, and other fun activities. This is unstructured time labelled "play with a purpose." Small Group leaders use this opportunity to build relationships with kids. Establishes an atmosphere of fun.

10.20 Large Group:

All groups gather in a common area for a dynamic time of learning that is Bible-based, interactive, life-changing, engaging and fun enough to keep each child's full attention. This will include drama, worship, games, and videos.

10.50 Small Groups:

Children connect into their age-based groups to creatively discover ways they can apply the Bible truth learned in Large group. This is the ideal setting for intentional shepherding by the adult small group leader. This will end at 11.30am.

Vision:

To provide a safe environment in which children from reception to year 6 can have the best hour of their week, and learn about God's passion and love for them.

One Sunday in the month, we meet all together in the Church with the adults for an all age service to share worship together.

Pastor Dave Baxter's New Year Message

10th January, 2012

Pastor Dave Baxter welcomed in the new year in the PBC News with a story of Hans Nielsen Hauge. That touch of God's hand and answer to prayer was the start of Hauge's God-driven mission to the whole of the Norwegian people. It was a time when Norwegians were emigrating to America and consequently, Hauge's teaching on repentance and salvation went over to the US with the Lutherans. What will God do in our lives this year? What are we praying for? Click on the header for the story and our Pastor's welcome in full. Happy New Year!
