Overview - Pastor, Eldership and Team Leaders

Pembury Baptist Church is served by a committed team of men and women who have responsibility and accountability for particular areas with PBC's ministries.

Dave BaxterPastor (email: )

Rev. Dave Baxter was inducted as Pembury Baptist Church's new Pastor on Saturday 15th October 2011.

Dave worked as Youth Pastor at Tonbridge Baptist Church and for the last nine years, as Pastor of Strode Crescent Baptist Church, Sheerness.  His initial training was as a PE teacher at Bedford College and subsequently he graduated from Spurgeon's College in 2005.

Dave is married to Amanda, a teacher and they have one daugher Hannah, who attends Pembury School.  The family are delighted that, having been born in Pembury, Amanda is coming back to her roots!

Eldership (E-mail )

Each year, if you have committed to membership of Pembury Baptist Church, you have an opportunity to influence the leadership of your church at the highest level by participating in the Elder election process. A central theme of the New Testament is that the church needs to be led by a plurality of godly leaders and that plurality of leadership extends to the Elder's empowerment of the Staff Team and Team Leaders.

The tasks and responsibilities of the Elders vary greatly and require discernment, as they strive to keep the church on its biblical course. On a daily basis, and in our two meetings each month, the Elders team tackle key issues facing the church. These include (not exhaustive!)
o Creating policy in terms of belief or biblical interpretation
o Dealing with social issues
o Handling financial concerns
o Conflict resolution, discipline and restoration
o Supporting the Staff Team
o Ensuring effective pastoral care throughout the congregation

In this process, we are looking for more than spiritual qualifications, people who have embraced the mission and vision of PBC, who are investing in the lives of unbelievers, and who are actively serving in the furthering of God's Kingdom.

Pastor Dave Baxter's New Year Message

10th January, 2012

Pastor Dave Baxter welcomed in the new year in the PBC News with a story of Hans Nielsen Hauge. That touch of God's hand and answer to prayer was the start of Hauge's God-driven mission to the whole of the Norwegian people. It was a time when Norwegians were emigrating to America and consequently, Hauge's teaching on repentance and salvation went over to the US with the Lutherans. What will God do in our lives this year? What are we praying for? Click on the header for the story and our Pastor's welcome in full. Happy New Year!
