PBC has an ongoing vision called 'Enlarging the Tent.' We believe God wants each one of us to:

Raise the risk level of leading people to Christ, rethink what it means to become fully devoted followers of Christ and release unprecedented levels of compassion.

This has specific elements that we are pursuing, praying for and investing in:
  1. A growing and inclusive church
  2. A church with mission at its heart
  3. A church that is growing smaller
  4. A church with new, attractive and efficient facilities

You can hear Rev. Wayne Alexander's series on PBC's vision from January 2008 here. Simply type in the vision series, 'Vision teachings: January 2008'

Purpose

TO KNOW JESUS: A personal ongoing relationship with Jesus Christ is at the core of human existence - it is the meaning of life

TO MAKE JESUS KNOWN: It is our privilege and responsibility to be turned "inside out" in such a way that we who know Jesus will actively make him known to others

Values

A PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD: We value the need for a personal relationship with God, made possible through knowing Jesus, maintained by an ongoing experience of the power of the Holy Spirit and expressed in our heart worship

THE GIFT OF PRAYER: We value the gift of prayer - a two way communication with God

OPPORTUNITIES FOR COMMUNITY: We value opportunities for community, which our church brings; we come to God personally but grow in Him relationally, within the environment of a loving and caring faith community

EACH INDIVIDUAL'S CONTRIBUTION: We value each individual; the church is a 'body' in which each member has a part. We are equal in status as God's children, different in function as God's servants, according to our gifts (natural and spiritual)

AN OUTWARD LOOKING PERSPECTIVE: We value the idea of the church having an outward looking perspective; the church should operate as a positive springboard into the world rather than a negative oasis, removing us from it.

OPPORTUNITIES FOR FAITH SHARING: We value opportunities for sharing our faith with those around us; we are primarily a "missionary" people.

ONGOING CULTURAL RELEVANCE: We value the need for an ongoing and developing cultural relevance, which does not undermine biblical truth

Pastor Dave Baxter's New Year Message

10th January, 2012

Pastor Dave Baxter welcomed in the new year in the PBC News with a story of Hans Nielsen Hauge. That touch of God's hand and answer to prayer was the start of Hauge's God-driven mission to the whole of the Norwegian people. It was a time when Norwegians were emigrating to America and consequently, Hauge's teaching on repentance and salvation went over to the US with the Lutherans. What will God do in our lives this year? What are we praying for? Click on the header for the story and our Pastor's welcome in full. Happy New Year!
