Happy New Year!

5th January 2021

We’d hoped to be opening up for a limited number to attend physically on Sunday mornings, starting this Sunday. I’m really grateful to our tech team who have set up the church ready for this. We are entering another lockdown period however, and while churches are still allowed to worship physically (albeit wearing masks, socially distant and without singing or mingling), the elders, deacons and I feel that with infections very high we should continue to hold off on meeting physically. I’m sorry as this is perhaps a further disappointment for some. The livestreams will continue and we value your prayers for the impact these are having.

Last night after listening to the Prime Minister’s announcement I thought about the Apostle Paul’s advice:  ‘Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.’  (Ephesians 6:10). Paul wrote this while literally in lockdown; in prison for preaching the gospel.

We might be feeling helpless and powerless right now. Last year was extremely challenging and this one is getting off to a very rocky start! But God’s power is mighty and when we are weak – especially when we are weak – in him we can be strong. Understandably we’re so frustrated. But while our powers are limited, God’s power isn’t. He is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine (Eph. 3:20). Let’s pray and believe him for mighty things. Mighty things he wants to do through you and me! Be strong in him.

God bless

Dan
