The earth is the LORD's and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it. (Psalm 24:1)
We believe passionately in the importance of caring for the world God has made, for the sake of the future not only of the planet but its people, particularly the poorest who are hardest hit by climate change. It's about loving our neighbour.
We are currently working towards an A Rocha Eco Church Silver Award and are soon to install solar panels on our church hall roof.
We're using these 5 areas to assess our impact on the environment:
- Our church services
- Our buildings
- The land around the church
- Our lifestyle
- Our engagement locally and globally
Here are just a few of the small changes we've made recently to 'do our bit':
- The Messy Church children built us some bug hotels
- We have a hedgehog house and bird feeder on site
- Putting more bird boxes up
- Talking more about the environment in our Sunday Services - and praying too
- Using recycled toilet paper and environmentally friendly cleaning products
- Including a 'green corner' in our newsletter
- Installing more secondary and double glazing
- Putting in a bike rack
- Installing 'Hive' smart heating system
There's more in the pipeline!
